In the city of Tacoma, Washington, the liberal officials take their jobs seriously. They consider taxpayer money their especial right to use in whatever way seems most likely to damage the country. In their latest act of defiance against U.S. Law, a task force created to focus on the needs of immigrants is requesting nearly half a million dollars for a legal defense fund for criminal residents.
Washington state has 18 counties that are listed as “sanctuary” locations for illegal residents. United States Law is in fact, being blatantly disregarded by a number of cities and states. The same conflict that was the catalyst for the Civil War is now in effect in hundreds of U.S. towns. These officials believe that they can choose which federal laws to follow, exactly like some Southern democrat states did during the civil rights movement and War between the States.
Tacoma created the task force after President Trump was elected. It’s mission was to discover ways to prevent the federal government from doing its job and deporting illegals who drain the country’s resources and provide nothing in return.
Mayor Marilyn Strickland said, “There have been calls for Tacoma to declare itself a sanctuary city, and my answer to that is it’s not necessary because we are already doing the work, above and beyond, and we’ve been doing the work long before the current occupant of the White House took office.”
The state already makes it very easy for illegal residents to access taxpayer resources. The Office of Refugee and Immigrant Assistance (ORIA) is designed to assist “refugee and immigrant families and individuals to succeed and thrive in Washington State.” However, the “immigrants” they’re talking about are criminals.
The site explains how illegals can get “Cash, Food and Medical, Employment and Training, and Health Screening and Mental Health” services for free. The state also touts its “various federal and state programs” that provide criminals with cash.
Unlike citizens who commit a crime and have the right to free legal representation, illegal residents do not have the rights of Americans. The Tacoma task force, which includes college student Amanda Diaz, looks to change that dynamic for the criminals in their city. Diaz announced the recommendations, explaining that the $440,000 would pay for two attorneys and one paralegal who would represent the illegal aliens.
Tacoma isn’t the only city to enact such measures. Seattle recently allotted $1 million for paying to keep criminal residents on U.S. soil. The arguments for such a waste of taxpayer money are typical of the left.
A lawyer with the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project told members of the council that the need for legal representation for detainees at the Northwest Detention Center is immediate. Tim Warden-Hertz bemoaned the fact that enforcement of the federal law has increased “40 percent over the last year.”
He said that because president Trump is actually doing the job he was elected to do. Warden-Hertz said that families are being “torn apart.”
Diaz also spouted the liberal rhetoric she’s obviously been brainwashed with at the University of Puget Sound. Without using one statistic, she asserted that there has been a “decrease in reporting crimes by immigrants.” However, these people are not immigrants, they are law breakers.
Although many members of Tacoma’s Vitality and Safety committee agreed there is a need for this atrocity, they also said there are needs for other corners of Tacoma’s population. The move to place U.S. citizens over those who have sneaked into the country through dishonest methods was surprising, but the task force isn’t daunted.
They suggest that in addition to the $440,000 that the city spend even more valuable resources on people who aren’t supposed to be in America. The group requests that a standing commission on immigration and refugee affairs should be established, which would address issues unique to the criminal residents living there.
They also think that all city services should now be offered in both English and Spanish, since the main barrier for illegals to get free government help was language.
Essentially, a minuscule portion of Tacoma leftists want to spend more taxpayer funds to help keep criminals in the country. They want the entire city to change to meet the needs of a few law breakers, and will probably—disgustingly—succeed in their requests.
