In the days running up to the Presidential election, there was a tremendous amount of activity going on. It wasn’t just the presidential race that was seeing a flurry of action though. The Democratic National Committee was under heavy scrutiny, due to two incidents of hacked emails that revealed what they were really up to.
These leaks included the revelation that the DNC was actively colluding against Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders in favor of Hillary Clinton. Despite what the Democrats attempted to say about the incidents, it was pretty clear they were against Sanders from the start. This caused Debbie Wasserman Schultz to step down as chairwoman, and had Donna Brazile step in to serve until a new chair was elected.
However, more emails were leaked, and it showed that Brazile was guilty of wrongdoing as well. She sent potential debate questions to Clinton’s camp, while not sharing them with Sanders’s campaign. This was done before a primary debate between Sanders and Clinton. In essence, Clinton had an unfair edge.
At first, Brazile adamantly denied she did anything wrong. She went as far as saying she was being “persecuted” over these claims. However, she finally relented that what was revealed in the email releases was true. Brazile wrote a piece in Time magazine and admitted that she did push questions to Clinton’s campaign.
In her piece, Brazile said that she would “forever regret” what she did.
“When I was asked last July to step in temporarily as D.N.C. Chair, I knew things were amiss,” Brazile said. “The D.N.C. had been hacked, and thousands of staff emails and documents were plastered on various websites. Staff were harassed, morale suffered, and we lost weeks of planning. Donors were harassed, and fundraising fell off.”
She then went on to discuss what happened in the October email release.
“Then in October, a subsequent release of emails revealed that among the many things I did in my role as a Democratic operative and D.N.C Vice Chair prior to assuming the interim D.N.C. Chair position was to share potential town hall topics with the Clinton campaign.”
In addition to her work with the DNC, Brazile served as a network contributor on CNN. This was how she received the debate questions. However, after this second release of emails, Brazile resigned from CNN. The network accepted her resignation on October 14th, although other members of the network were livid.
Reliable Sources host Brian Stelter didn’t hold back his thoughts. He said that the collusion between Brazile and the Clinton campaign “embarrassed all of CNN.”
However, Brazile had a double-edged sword in her Time piece. She has been one of the biggest proponents of the Russian-hacking narrative. Despite the fact that there is no proof about a Russian hack, Brazile continues to claim that one occurred.
She blamed “the media narrative” for pushing the story as well. Brazile claimed that the constant attention “played out just as the Russians had hoped, leaving Sanders supporters understandably angry and sowing division in our ranks.”
Again, there hasn’t been proof of a Russian hacking case. That doesn’t matter to Brazile though. She claims that there must be a continued investigation about Russia’s interference in the election.
Brazile wrote, “Let me be clear, this is not just the price of politics. This is not normal. We cannot let this stand. Our democratic process itself was attacked and harmed, and all Americans should be concerned.”
This paragraph contradicts the message that Brazile was sending. At first, she did seem resentful about her actions. However, her continued insistence into a Russian hacking narrative completely destroys that message. Not to mention that this narrative is getting old, especially considering that there hasn’t been proof produced that supports the Democrats claims.
The Russian hacking narrative is getting weaker every day. It took another big hit when James Clapper issued a statement on the situation. Clapper is the former Director of National Intelligence under President Obama. He stated himself that he hasn’t seen evidence proving “collusion between members of the Trump campaign and the Russians.” This was from the NSA, FBI and CIA as well.
In other words, the narrative is quickly crumbling, and Brazile’s stunts are not doing anything to help with that.
Democrats are quick to accuse President Donald Trump of having a relationship with Russia. However they should really look in the mirror when they are talking about Russia. Just over two weeks ago, it was shown that a Democratic lobbyist and brother of John Podesta, Tony Podesta, took $170,000 from a Russian bank. He took this money to try and get President Obama to lift sanctions against the country.
Democrats are so adamant about the Russian hacking narrative, that they are willing to teach future generations about it. This is despite having no clear evidence that this actually occurred though. It doesn’t matter to them though. A new bill in California mandates that students will be taught how Russia interfered with the election. So much for giving them the facts.
Share this article with everyone to show that Brazile finally admitted to helping Clinton during the primary debates. However, her apology also included another statement about Russian hacking and how it needs to be investigated. In other words, Brazile didn’t learn a thing. No wonder the Democrats are in such bad shape.
